Environmental Stewardship and Recycling

Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service is committed to promoting sustainability and environmentally friendly practices in all aspects of its operations.

Along with recycling paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum, and glass, we also explore additional methods to recycle and repurpose various materials.

  • Collects eyeglasses for the Lions Club World Vision Program.
  • Gathers hearing aids for reuse.
  • Removes pacemakers before cremation, which are then donated to local hospitals and refurbished for use in developing countries.
  • Offers biodegradable urns for cremation families, suitable for burial in the earth or at sea.
  • Actively supports organ and tissue donation, working with various procurement agencies that conduct procedures at our facility.
  • Assists families in donating floral and plant arrangements to local hospice homes, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and churches. Many of these arrangements are repurposed into multiple displays by arts and crafts groups.
  • Uses Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFL) throughout the facility where appropriate.
  • Ensures all medical waste is handled by a professional disposal company, including the proper disposal of incandescent bulbs to prevent them from entering landfills.
